Investors & landlords
I’m not understanding your question. You don’t need to issue a Form 1099-MISC to your tenant. A Form 1099 is filed when you pay someone.
If you are receiving rent, you can report rental income on your tax form without a 1099-MISC.
- Type rentals in Search (magnifying glass) in the top right corner
- Select Jump to rentals
- On “Your 2022 rentals and royalties summary, select EDIT next to your property
- On “Here’s [your] rental property info, select Add income
- On “Select your type of income for [your property] choose Cash, checks and electronic payments (like Square or PayPal) and enter your rental income in USD
