My school has changed its reporting method for 2018 (box 3). Why is Box 1 is showing an amount different from the amount I paid the school out of pocket and by FAFSA?

My school has changed its reporting method for 2018 (box 3). Why is Box 1 is showing an amount different from the amount I paid the school out of pocket and by FAFSA?
The amount that is im box 1 is astronomically lower than what I paid. What gives?
