My daughter has a 1098E and a 1098T with her name on it , but Turbo Tax wont allow me to enter it under her name. Why?
Are you claiming her as your dependent? If so, the Form 1098-T is entered on your tax return.
If you are not legally liable for the student loan then you cannot enter the Form 1098-E, student loan interest, on your tax return.
If you are not claiming her as your dependent, then you cannot enter the Form 1098-T on your return. She can file her own tax return reporting the 1098-T and the 1098-E on her tax return.
