Yes. If you received a 1099-Misc (income in BOX 7 "Non-Employee Compensation") from the Real Estate Agency, you are considered an Independent Contractor for tax purposes. Independent Contractors (IC) are considered Sole Proprietors for tax purposes-- filing Schedule C (Summary of Income/Expenses) along with their 1040. Unlike W-2 Employees, IC's can deduct ordinary and necessary business expenses.
