You can file an extension request that will give you an extra 6 months to file the 2024 tax return on or before October 15, 2025. The extension is only for filing a return, it does not give you the extra time to pay any taxes owed. Taxes owed are due and payable on or before April 15, 2025 to avoid a failure to pay penalty.
