Turbo Tax:
Your "licensed tax advisor" purported statement that "there is a new rule for filing schedule Es where they don't need to send in the forms for properties that have already been reported in prior years. Confirmed not a defect. It will only show the newest properties. " THIS IS APPALLINGLY INCORRECT. Please provide an appropriate citation to relevant statute, caselaw, regulations, or Form instructions.
The 2023 instructions to Form Schedule E clearly state, "If you have more than three rental real estate or royalty properties, complete and attach as many Schedules E as you need to list them. But fill in lines 23a through 26 on only one Schedule E.
The failure to print the additional Schedules E is not your only software defect involving Schedule E. Items listed on line 19 of Schedule E are also required to be listed on a separate page at the end of the return for "Additional Information". On my return, your software scrambled this information. Your software picked up one property from the first Schedule E (not the one with Line 19 information), and two properties from the second Schedule E, but only included numerical data from the one property on the first Schedule E which had Line 19 data, which was not one of the three properties listed. It left out the numerical data from the two properties on the second Schedule E which had line 19 information. Perhaps your mythical "licensed tax advisor" told your software developers to do this as well?
