Yes, that is commuting and is NOT deductible.  Your miles traveled to and from home from your primary work location are commuting miles.  

However, if you are at a clients location and leave there to go to your home, that would be counted as business miles and you could enter that as a job expense.  

In order to claim a home office deduction, the office must be both exclusively used for your work and nothing else and be your principal place of business.
