Deductions & credits

If your child care provider will not give you their SSN, then you will need to attach statement providing all information you have for the care provider.  To do this when asked "Lets get some info about your care provider" You will select

  • Other
  • Individual
  • Enter their name
  • Select Provider refused to provide the Tax ID number
  • enter their address and amount you paid them
  • then select whether they were or were not your household employee
  • Hit continue

You do need to give them a W10 for 2024, if you are planning on continuing to use them and want to claim the dependent care credit.  If you switch to someone else, it would be a good idea to have them fill out the W10 prior to paying them for the first time.
