You do not have to use a "live" version but you need Premium in  order to prepare a Schedule C for your business expenses if you are self-employed.   Whether you use the do-it-yourself Premium online software or choose to use "Live " Premium with help from a tax expert is a choice.

 

And....when you say you have expenses for work---to be clear--- if you are self-employed you need to prepare a Schedule C.   If you are a W-2 employee, you cannot deduct job-related expenses on a federal tax return.
