Deductions & credits

Possibly. If your total medical expenses in excess of 7.5% of your AGI, including your shingles vaccine along with your other itemized expenses such as property taxes and mortgage interest are greater than your standard deduction then you would be able to claim the vaccine as a deduction.

If your itemized deductions are less than your standard deduction, then your vaccine would not be deductible.

Example.  You have $60,000 in taxable income and are over 65 and single. Your Standard Deduction would be $14,700.  This would be substracted from $60,000 for an AGI of $45,300.  In this example, the first $3,397.50 would not be deductible.  Any medical expenses over that amount would be included in your itemized deductions.
