@jkeating0 You are misunderstanding it. You were DIVORCED before the tax year ended. So that means you are considered to be unmarried for the entire tax year. There is no way to file a tax return as married for part of the year but unmarried for part of the year. Forget about community property. It does not apply to your situation.
