Deductions & credits
TurboTax links the Federal and New York state answers about having a foreign financial account. The way to change New York is the change federal.
@JordanGold you don’t say whether you are using TurboTax Online or CD/Download.
In TurboTax Online, the foreign bank account question only comes up once.
To change the foreign bank account question in TurboTax Online:
- Click Tax Tools in the left column,
- Click Tools,
- Select Delete a Form in the center,
- Find and delete Schedule B
- Reenter any interest and/or dividends
Once you are back to Income & Expenses, click Wrap up income in the bottom right corner. You may see a few marketing screens, then you'll see the foreign bank question. Answer NO.
In CD/Download
- Select Forms mode in the upper right
- In the left column (Forms in My Return) select Schedule B
- Go to Part III, question 7a and change the answer to NO. This will change the answer on D1 on the NY return to NO.
