I am planning on installing a solar roof on my parent's property. I am not the owner of the house, but it is my primary residence. My parent's own the property, but they do not live there.
- If I pay for the solar roof, can I claim the Federal tax credit even though I do not own the property?
- If they pay for the solar roof, can they claim the tax credit even if it isn't their primary residence? They do not reside in the same state as the property.
