Well, TurboTax says it can file it online. I tried to go in and turbotax is telling me I need turbotax deluxe to do it. And that apparently costs $60 and I don't even know what I'm going to get from adding my electric vehicle tax credit so...I can't afford that.

Where do you seen that the Form 8936, Qualified Plug-in Electric Drive Motor Vehicle Credit can be filed online after the 2019 tax return has been filed and accepted by the IRS?

To add anything to the 2019 tax return that was filed, the return has to be amended using Form 1040X.  The Form 1040X can only be printed, signed, dated and mailed by you to the IRS, it cannot be e-filed by IRS rules.

Is the vehicle you purchased new in 2019 on this list of vehicles eligible for the Energy Efficient Vehicle tax credit? - https://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/taxevb.shtml
