It is your choice. Turbo Tax gives you the larger deduction. You must have answered a question somewhere to force itemized deductions. Are you filing Married filing Separate? How much is on the 1040 line 8? Do you have a Schedule A?
If you took the itemized instead of standard you might be able to amend your return.
