State tax filing
Thank you for your patience while I researched this matter. I am seeing the same results in your return that you described. We are still investigating.
Michigan does conform to the federal guidelines for early distributions to be taxed over the next three years. However, you are not experiencing this treatment for your withdrawal on the Pension worksheet even though the Federal AGI is correctly posting as expected on your Michigan tax return.
What to do now:
- For TurboTax Online, continue to wait for the Michigan update.
- Otherwise, convert to TurboTax CD/Download and override the 100% to one third of the withdrawal amount posting to your return on the Pension worksheet.
- If you have not paid for TurboTax yet, see: How do I switch from TurboTax Online to the TurboTax CD/Download software?
- If you have paid for TurboTax, call (800) 446-8848. They will push you a free download.
- Keep in mind that doing the override would forfeit the accuracy guarantee.
