In the year a dependent passes away you can still claim that dependent on your tax return. In the My Info section of the program when entering them as a dependent you will be asked if they passed away during the year and their date of passing. Also indicate that they lived with you for the whole year where asked.
You will receive any credit that would be available based on the dependent claimed on your tax return, if any.
