State tax filing
You will only report income in the state that you lived in or worked in. So if you were a resident of NY then NJ for a short period of time and did not receive any income during that time, you would not need to file a tax return for NJ or NY.
If you started receiving income one a resident of PA, then you would file as a part year resident since you were only a resident of PA for part of the year.
When you say you were a temporary resident, does that mean you came to the US from another country so that is the reason you had your first job in PA or did you recently graduate or move out from living with your parents and that is why you had your first job? If it is because you came from another country, then be sure that you are considered a Resident for tax purposes prior to filing with TurboTax. If you did not meet the substantial presence test or are a Green card holder, then you would need to file a 1040 NR which TurboTax does not support, but our partner Sprintax.com does. They can help you with both your federal and your state returns.
