TurboTax gets no information from the IRS or your state after you file your tax return---not if you e-file and not if you file by mail. Once you file your tax return, TT knows nothing more, nor can TT get any sort of update for you.
You do not mention how long ago you mailed your IL return. The state of IL is rather slow to process mailed returns. It could take them several months to process a mailed return. You have to check with the state refund site.
