State tax filing
For the 2024 tax year Iowa return, federal taxes paid are not deductible, you do not report that on your state return.
Additionally, federal refunds received in tax year 2024 and/or later are no longer taxed and are not reported on the Iowa state return.
According to the state of Iowa:
- "Federal income tax refunds or overpayments received in tax years 2024 and later do not need to be reported on the Iowa return.
- Federal tax paid is no longer allowed as a deduction on Schedule 1."
Appreciate the heads-up, thank you
