State tax filing

Yes, you may need to file a Resident and a Non-Resident Return, but only if your employer withheld taxes for NJ while a resident of PA.

Since you moved to PA, even if you worked in NJ, you would not need to pay taxes on the income you earned in NJ while a PA resident as PA and NJ have reciprocity meaning you only pay taxes to the state you live in, not the state you work in.  As long as your employer did not withhold NJ taxes that you need to claim, you will say No, I did not earn income from NJ while living in another state.  In this case you will only file the NJ Part Year Resident return.

If your employer DID withhold taxes for NJ while you lived in PA, then you would need to file the nonresident return claiming $0 income and all of the taxes that were withheld so you would get a refund of all the taxes that were withheld while you were a resident of PA.
