State tax filing
It depends. If you took the standard deduction and did not itemize your 2022 return, it is not considered taxable income as you never received a deduction for the taxes you paid on your federal return. If this is the case, you can simply go back and delete the 1099-G that you entered.
If you did itemize, it is considered taxable income, because it was deducted from your federal return taxable income so this is how it gets added back. On the menu bar on the left that shows.
- Select Tax Tools
- On the drop-down select Tools
- On the Pop-Up menu select Delete a Form
- This will give you all of the forms in your return
- Scroll down to the form you want to delete
- Select the Form
- Click on Delete.
Always use extreme caution when deleting information from your tax return. There could be unintended consequences.
