Champ @Mike9241 is correct. Your friend should be going back to that same tax preparer. That tax pro should have prepared a part -year NY return. That tax pro has all the federal information and knows what they did with CA. How come the tax pro did not know to prepare a NY return too? Your friend cannot use TurboTax to prepare just a state return.
