State tax filing

Hi @MichelleLO

Using turbo tax desktop. So I live in New york(resident) and work in New Jersey (nonresident)- so filing state taxes for both. I went through both federal and state filing, and when I got down to the end to check errors, I received the following:

IT-112-R (NJ) Tax amount - TP should not be greater than the tax imposed by the other state.

The auto-populated amount for Tax amount. - tp is 4242$. However, when I go to the form version, I see that the other state tax computation (generated in #23A) shows as 3016$. When I go to edit, the Tax amount - TP field to be consistent as 3016$ - my amount i owe is basically doubled.

I'm just trying to understand where I went wrong and what I need to calculate to enter the correct amount in this Tax Amount - TP field so the error goes away.

I also "removed" my NY wages line, when doing the NJ return... since the taxable amounts for me on my W2 were different between NY and NJ. I read elsewhere that I should only include the NJ amount - not sure if thatcould be making an issue.
