State tax filing
@Anonymous
Ok, for NC...follow this thread to one of the 24 February posts that shows the notification that the NC software would be corrected/updated on 25 Feb:
Solved: charitable deduction carryover error in North Caro... - Page 2 (intuit.com)
____________________________________________________________________
But, the fix had to be followed carefully.....What happened was that for anyone who started their NC software section before 25 Feb, the software transferred the entire $$ Value of their 2020 charitable contributions, and entered them in the NC software as Charitable carryover deductions for 2021 NC taxes. The Whole Amount of all 2020 charitable deductions, even if they used Std Ded for 2020 NC taxes.
Now the fix was only partial. Anyone who started their NC software section after 25 Feb, their charitable carryovers were set properly at $0 (unless they had a true carryover). For anyone who started their NC section before 25 Feb, they needed to either 1) Delete the entire NC section, and start the NC part over, or 2) carefully go into the NC software section and zero-out that Charitable carryover value. If a value was there, you had to actually change it to a zero....just blanking the entry wouldn't work. And there was a checkbox that required you to check it to confirm that the carryover value listed was correct....it wouldn't proceed to let you e-file until if you hadn't already checked that box on the page with the NC charitable contributions carryover.
Now, e-filing for NC was blocked entirely until after 28 Feb, but those who printed and mail-filed NC on 24 Feb, or before that, would not have known that they had a chance to fix it....or realized there was an error there in the first place.
