State tax filing

You probably don’t need to complete the screen for income taxed by another state.

Part-year residents are generally taxed only on income earned while living in-state.

There should not be any overlapping or double-tax income if you moved to Massachusetts from California. Neither state taxes remote workers.

All income earned while living in California is taxed by CA. All income earned while living in Massachusetts is taxed by MA.

If your employer continued to withhold CA tax after you moved to MA, that will be accounted for by the subtraction for non-Massachusetts income. It would not be double-taxed income because it was a mistake, so the difference would be subtracted from MA.
