State tax filing

The New York amount is the amount on income from your New York tax return, so it would be all your W-2 income because you worked in NY the whole year. The second column in the double-taxed income.

In your example, $80k would be the New York Amount and $60k will be Your Amount.

Lines 4a and 4b would be the same. 4a is your NY tax liability and 4b is the tax paid through withholding, estimated payments or a payment when filing your return. The number would be different if you set up a payment plan and only paid part of your tax.

In your case lines 4a and 4b would be the prorated amounts of NY income for the time you lived in PA.
