Follow these steps to confirm the correct choice of state/local income tax versus sales tax deduction is made.
- Go back into the "Sales tax" topic
- Go completely through the interview
- Delete/blank out any entries.
- Be sure to go all the way through the interview section.
- Eventually you will end up on the comparison page again.
- This time select the "Back" button at the bottom of the page.
- Then confirm "no location" is on the next page
- Click "Done."
- Click "No" for non-taxable income.
- Now the "We've chosen a deduction for you" page will appear.
- Confirm the correct selection is made.
