You can prepare a New Jersey extension in TurboTax.
- Go to the New Jersey section
- Keep going until your are near the end. You will see File an Extension for New Jersey?
- Select Do Extension
- Print and mail your extension
You can file an extension online directly with the State of New Jersey. See: Tax Deadline Change and Information on Extension Requests
You do not have to file a New Jersey extension if you filed a federal extension. You can provide NJ a copy of the federal extension when you file your state return.
