How Do I Amend My Taxes? Form 1040X & State Amendments
The two most common reasons to amend your tax return are that you realized you made a mistake or you received a new tax form after you filed. Other common reasons are using the wrong filing status or claiming/not claiming a dependent. Whatever your reason is, you’ll want to make sure you really do need to file that tax amendment.
