On a follow-up page after your SSA-1099 entry, the tax software asked if you were a resident of several possible Foreign countries. IF resident in one of those countries your SS isn't taxed since (I think) the foreign country does so.

A few people (Living in the U.S.) appear to have been hurrying through, and accidentally indicating a YES...when they should have said NO. Have seen several people posting in here about having done so.
