I don't know why it won't let you. In any case, if you wish, you can try downgrading to Free Edition and then upgrade that to Deluxe. Or, as mentioned in that FAQ, you can use "Clear and Start over" and choose Deluxe from square one, but you have to re-enter everything. Be aware that Online Deluxe cannot handle Schedule D (capital gains/losses from stocks/bonds/mutual funds, etc.), Schedule E (rental/royalty income), Schedule C (self-employed business), and cannot enter a K-1.
