IND-517-02: How soon the amend take effect?
I claimed my son as a dependent on my tax return. When I e-file my tax return, it got rejected with "IND-517-02 - 'DependentSSN' in the return must not be the same as Primary or Spouse SSN on another return".
It was because my son filed his tax return before me and forgot to check the box "Someone can claim you as a dependent" on Form 1040 - Page 1 - "Standard Deduction" section.
My son e-file an amendment (with the "Someone can claim you as a dependent" checked). The amendment was accepted by IRS.
I e-filed my tax return again, with my son as a dependent. It got rejected again with the same reason.
My questions are:
1) Would my son's amendment fix my problem?
2) If yes, how long shall I wait after his amendment was accepted by IRS before I try to re-file my tax return?
Thank you!
