After you file

Not sure what you mean (or think you mean ) by "received but not accepted".    TurboTax tells you if your e-file was accepted.

When you e-file your federal return you will receive two emails from TurboTax.  The first one will say that your return was submitted.  The second email will tell you if your federal return was accepted or rejected.  If you e-filed a state return, there will be a third email to tell you if the state accepted or rejected your state return.

If your e-file was accepted, your TurboTax account will say "Accepted".  Does it say Accepted--- or does it say something else like  “Rejected,” “Ready to Mail” or “Printed” ?

If it does not say Accepted then it did not go to the IRS and the only way to file it now is by mail.   You have to print it, sign it and date it in ink, and mail it in.

If it says accepted, then the IRS would show on the IRS site first that it was "received" and then as it moved through the stages of processing, might say something like "being processed"  or eventually "approved"

Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control.  TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.

You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 35a of your 2023 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:

https://www.irs.gov/refunds

So if the IRS accepted it, showed it as received and you did not get your refund, then it is up to you to follow up and see what happened.  You can call the IRS.

Call the IRS: 1-800-829-1040 hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Monday-Friday
When calling the IRS do NOT choose the first option re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.
So after first choosing your language, then do NOT choose Option 1 (refund info). Choose option 2 for "personal income tax" instead.
Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".
Then press 3 "for all other questions."
Then press 2 "for all other questions."
- When it asks you to enter your SSN or EIN to access your account information, don't enter anything.
- After it asks twice, you will get another menu.

Press 2 for personal or individual tax questions.
Then press 3 for all other inquiries
It should then transfer you to an agent.
