After you file

The Add a State is only available when:

1) The tax year has not closed down yet, but 2023 is closed down

or

2) You've already filed that year, and it isn't the end of October for that same tax year.....ie. for 2023, you filed (for example, say) in March of 2024, and any time after that before the end of October of 2024, you wanted to print out/save the full PDF for 2023.   Thus no Add a State option is shown for any prior tax year.  (and Add a State for 2024 will show up after you actually file 2024 taxes...at least before the end of Oct 2025)

But, like I said,  maybe your new Online 2024 tax file will show it now if you start that up and pay for the Online software, even if it's really not complete yet.   The 2024 file will start by transferring in some of your 2023 data, as long as you are using the same Online account.  There will be a bunch of empty forms, but historical things like depreciation, carryover credits, capital losses, AMT, etc that definitely need to be tracked year-to-year would carry-over to 2024.
