After you file
2017? What about the subsequent years? Did you prepare and file tax returns for 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 or 2023? What is prompting you now in 2024 to try to file a 2017 tax return? Any refund for 2017 has been forfeited for several years; the IRS will not pay out a refund for any year earlier than tax year 2021 now. But if you owe tax due for any of those years, you owe it with late filing penalties and interest. For only a short remaining time, TurboTax will still offer the CD/download software for 2020, and then that software will be gone. Only software for 2021, 2022 and 2023 will be available after mid-October of 2024. If you still need to file 2021, it is not too late to receive a refund for tax year 2021, 2022, or 2023.
