To file a 2021 state tax return using TurboTax you will first have to download the tax data file from the 2021 online edition you used to file the 2021 federal tax return.
Next you will have to purchase the 2021 TurboTax desktop edition to install on a personal computer, Windows or Mac, not on a mobile device.
Install the 2021 desktop program. Open the 2021 tax data file that was downloaded which as a file extension of .tax2021. Continue the 2021 federal tax return. Then download the 2021 state tax program needed. Complete the state tax return. Print, sign, date and mail the state tax return to your state.
To access your prior year online tax returns sign onto the TurboTax website with the User ID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/
Start the 2023 online tax return by entering some personal information then click on Tax Home on the left side of the screen.
On the Tax Home webpage -
Scroll down to the section Your tax returns & documents. Click on the Year and Click on Download .tax file

Once installed, click on the File menu at the top left of the desktop program screen. Click on Open Tax Return
