If you did not mail the tax return using a tracking service provided by the US Post Office you will not get any type of confirmation that the IRS received your tax return.
If you had a tax refund on the federal tax return, it will be about 4 weeks after the return was mailed before the status is available on the IRS website - https://www.irs.gov/wheres-my-refund
