No.  There would not be an email or a notice about splitting the refund between two accounts.  One thing you should know is that if a refund is sent to someone else's bank account, the bank is highly likely to refuse the direct deposit and send it back to the IRS.  Then the IRS issues a check and mails it to the address on your tax return.

 

 

Certainly your friend is going to print out your return and provide you with a copy, right?
