After you file
You are not filing a W-2 you are filing a tax return which has the tax data entered from the W-2. You are required to enter all income received in 2023 on only one 2023 tax return.
If you file the 2023 tax return without all your income, then you would need to file an amended tax return, Form 1040-X to add additional income on the filed tax return.
An amended return, Form 1040-X, can only be printed and mailed to the IRS if the original tax return was not e-filed. The IRS will take up to 20 weeks or longer to process an amended tax return.
Before starting to amend the tax return, wait for the tax refund to be received or the taxes due to be paid and processed by the IRS.
Wait for the other W-2 to be received. Employers have until January 31, 2024 to provide the 2023 W-2.
The IRS will not start processing tax returns until January 29, 2024.
