After you file

Only e-filed returns are "accepted" or "rejected."   If you filed by mail, the IRS processes the return.  And...after mid-October of 2020, the only possible way to file a 2020 return was by mail.  So....did you mail it?  When did you mail it?   If you mailed it after the deadline of three years from the original filing deadline of July 17, 2020 you forfeited the refund and will not receive it even if there is a refund shown on the Form 1040.    The IRS will keep the refund.
