After you file

"filed in 2017.."    What tax year are you asking about?  The tax year people would have "filed" in 2017 would have been for 2016, the tax year that had ended on December 31, 2016.  Or do you mean you prepared a tax return for tax year 2017-----and filed it in 2018?     Either one----why have you waited so many years to ask here about it?    At some point since filing that tax return, did you try contacting the IRS?      What does it say in your TurboTax account?  Does your account show that a return was accepted?  Or does it say something else---like "rejected," "printed" or "ready to mail?"   If the return was rejected or never filed by e-filing or by mail, it is now too late to get a refund from that long ago. The refund has been forfeited.

 

Does your online account with the IRS show that you filed?   Or does the IRS have a transcript of a return that you filed back then?
