After you file

If you have not filed the return yet, and you used online TurboTax, you can use the trick of clicking "Add a State" to get back into the return and make changes.  You really do not have to add a state return, but that will allow you back into the return to make changes, and then you can file it.    Why do you want to mail it instead of e-filing it?   Do you know it will take much longer for the IRS to process your return if you send it in the mail?

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.

Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses.  Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.
