When the return was rejected the info to pay the balance due was not sent to the IRS so the CC payment was cancelled ( the pending charge never was made permanent). Since you refiled but did not request the payment to be made on the CC again the pending charge was dropped ... it will not be reinstated in the future. Good news you save yourself a CC fee by paying by check.
