After you file

No, as you stated, it did not affect your return in anyway.  The IRS would have received a copy of your W2's so they actually do know whos is whose. If you amended your return, it would not change anything since as you stated it is your joint income so you do not need to amend your 2021 return.

 

When you file for 2022, you will simply need to delete the W2 that will transfer from last year so you can enter the correct information.  This will not cause your return to be rejected.

 

The only place you may want to double check your earnings is with the social security administration to be sure that each person gets the proper credit with social security. If you don't already have one, you can create an online account and look at your wage history.  If it is not correct, you will need to contact them to get it corrected.
