After you file
If you missed adding taxes you paid in 2021, first, double check to see if the IRS changed made the adjustments to your return and to any refund or tax due you may have owed. Generally, the IRS will catch missing payments made and adjust your return accordingly.
You can log into your Online Tax Account and see if you have an overpayment sitting in your account. If you do, and you have taxes due this year, you can deduct the overpayment you have in your online account from the amount you send in this year.
If no adjustments were made then you can Amend Your Return for 2021 and get a refund. However, before you amend your return, be sure that the additional payments you made did go through and the IRS actually did receive the payment.
