After you file

The "Ready to Mail" for a prior year tax return....that means that you indicated that you wanted to mail in your tax "return" to the IRS, and you were supposed to mail the full set of forms in to the IRS yourself.

If you did that, then perhaps the IRS is taking forever to send out "refunds", especially if they are manually reviewing what you sent them

IF you did not print pout yoru file, and take it down to the post office yourself, then you need to do that now, since the IRS doesn't have your tax return yet.  Attach any W-2 forms you have, and any other tax forms that show any Federal withholding.  Only the main 1040, Schedules and forms that have an Attachement Sequence number in the upper-rt corner are sent in.  ANd use a tracking method at the Post Office service counter.  Your State tax return would have to be mailed in too, to a separate address...if your state has an income tax.

Note: a tax "return" is the data you send to the IRS.....a "refund" is what you might get back...or perhaps you might owe them and get no refund.
