After you file
@DERENZOR The IRS does not allow you to change banking information after you file your tax return, so if you want direct deposit you will need to keep that account open. If you close it, the bank will send the refund back to the IRS and then the IRS will have to issue and mail a paper check to the address on your tax return--which will cause even further delay.
