After you file
If you paid more than $8537.40 for Social Security in 2020 then you could get a refund for paying excess Social Security. Did you have more than one employer who withheld SS from your wages? If the combined total withheld for SS in box 4 of your W-2's did not exceed the amount mentioned above you will not get any additional refund, and you do not need to amend. If more than $8537.40 was withheld by ONE employer you must seek a refund of the excess SS withheld from that employer.
