After you file
For direct deposit, banks will usually ensure that the name and bank information match the bank records. If you provided the incorrect name for the bank account owner when you e-filed - i.e. your mother's name, but the bank account is in your name - it is too late to change it. Don't worry - you will still get your refund. If the bank does not allow the direct deposit to proceed, the government will send you a check.
